Child Of God by Coard Wilkes

By CGI New York | June 2, 2017 | Category CHRISTIAN LIVING IN MODERN TIMES

Can any of us remember a time where there were zero to little racial issues in America? Sure, there may have been times that were better than others but there have always been racial issues in this country. Today, it seems that racial tensions seem to be at an all-time high. I believe political correctness and its agenda have a lot to do with this.

Political correctness tells us we have races such as whites, African Americans, Hispanics, Latinos, Native Americans, Indians, Asians, and more. Because of all these supposed different races, many believe we are to treat each one differently, and act differently around each one. This is what political correctness wants us to believe, but our God and Christ Jesus tells us something different.

(Genesis 1:27 ) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

When we read Genesis, we see God create Adam and Eve. I find it very revealing that there is no real description on them. All we really get that describes them is that one is a man, one is a woman, and both were made in the image of God. That’s it! I believe that’s all we get because God doesn’t care what skin color we are. God doesn’t see race. He only sees his children, and we are all children of God! God and Jesus show us even more through the life and death of the Son.

(John 3:16-17) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

God did not sacrifice his only Son for a certain group, race, or nation. God did not give Jesus’ life just for the Jews, but the Gentiles as well (Romans 3:29). Jesus did not come for those who are whole only, but the sick as well (Matthew 9:12). He came for the saint and the sinner. Jesus gave His life for ALL the world, so that ALL may come to know God the Father through Christ Jesus.
(Proverbs 3:5) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Leave it to us to think we know better than God. Again, we as a nation think that political correctness is the answer to our racial tensions. However, whether we realize it or not, political correctness actually pushes more race issues, discrimination, and division. Look at the state of our nation and tell me I’m wrong. Political correctness allows and creates organizations that support a specific race, allowing them to dictate what is correct and what is offensive. While initially it may sound good and well, it only causes more division and hate in this country. We need to stop leaning on our own understanding because we are failing. We must trust in the Lord and look to him for the answers to our racial tensions.

In Acts 10:34, Peter tells us that “God is no respecter of persons.” God doesn’t play favorites. He doesn’t see color, he doesn’t see nationality, he doesn’t see race. God only sees his creations, his children. This is the answer. We are all children of God the Father. We are all some of His most beautiful creations. When we realize this, and truly believe it, love can only reign in our hearts and lives. Jesus tells us that the second greatest commandment is “thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” (Matthew 22:39). While it sounds so simple, it is incredibly hard. When we show our neighbor the same love we expect to receive, the world starts to seem like a better place. We should show everyone the same love and respect we expect for ourselves, despite any differences, because in the end we are all just a child of God.
