Do We Love Him As Much As He Loves Us? by Brandy Webb

By CGI New York | March 21, 2018 | Category KNOWLEDGE OF GOD/FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT

This week leading up to Passover and Unleavened Bread, a thought has been going through my head. Do I love Jesus as much as He loves me? Do I want Him in my life as much as He wants me in His? Am I willing to sacrifice everything for Him, like He did for me? And lastly, am I willing to lay down my life for others like He did for all of us?

Jesus loves us more than we can comprehend. He allowed Himself to be transformed from a spirit being to a human, and then He was tortured, so that we can have eternal life. What king would willingly lower himself to that of a servant? What king would then go further, and be willing to die for all his people?

I cannot imagine the physical and mental pain He must have endured for you and me. Now, it is our turn to make sure His sacrifice was not in vain. What does He desire from us? Well, one thing is to love Him and our Father with all our hearts and souls, and then to love each other (Matt 22:36-40, ref Deut 6:5; Lev 19:18). How do we show this love?

“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him”—Jesus (John 14:21).

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another”—Jesus (John 13:34-35).
“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends”—Jesus (John 15:13).

Are we willing to do this? If we are, we must be willing to sacrifice everything to follow Him (Matt 10:37-39). He sacrificed everything for us to give us a chance to live eternally with Him. He wishes for none to perish (2 Pet 3:9). Therefore, are we willing to “walk the walk” that He has set before us? Are we willing to love Him like He loves us? I hope so, because when we live like the Messiah, we show the world that He is real, and that one of these days we will sit at His table enjoying the Holy Days in His Kingdom.
